I've decided to begin a brand new fresh start on my blog Walking On Sunshine, and I'd L-o-v-e you beautiful people to help me out just a bit! I want to make sure the content I provide here on Walking On Sunshine is encouraging, fresh, appealing and a Blessing to y'all! So would you mind filling out these few questions, so I can begin posting again? that'd be so much appreciated! I can hardly wait to begin posting again! And..thank you heaps for all your support, encouragement, and..most of, Patience!!!
Hey everyone! Its been a lovely week for me, how was yours? This week I thought I'd share with you an experience, that although may seem so insignificant, God used to teach me something that I'm sure many of you, particularly myself, could be reminded of! Let me set the scene... I was playing the piano this friday evening as best as I could. I started off just practicing the songs I learnt quietly to myself (I love the piano and thank God for the gift he has given me!) and before I knew it myself, I realised I was playing with a selfish heart hoping that my family would 'notice' me! I must admit I played for a while, all the time thinking they were listening to me. It was awful quiet, so I played a bit more, thinking they must have been enjoying it! After I finished, I started walking to my room, after pausing to peek into my brothers room. To my surprise, he wasn't listening to it at all, all that time! Instead he had his ear phones in, listening to his own music!! Feeling quite rejected and disappointed, I dragged myself to my room. Looking for some sort of encouragement, I grabbed one of my most favorite books, called 'His Princess' By Sheri Rose Shepherd. I sat there in thought, asking God all sorts of silly questions. "Why have you given me this gift of piano lord, if I can't even get others to appreciate it? Why bother playing if no one listens anyway? Why lord?" After praying for only a few seconds, I opened the book I had in front of me and the first page I came to was definitely what I needed to hear! (Ps. Because the page is too long, let me choose the most meaningful sentences.) My Princess... You Don't have to fit in~ I know you want to be accepted by others, but you were not made to fit in. You, my Princess, were created to stand out, not to draw attention to yourself, but live the kind of life that leads others to me...You can put on your crown at any time and let people know you belong to me... Love, Your King and Crown Giver
It also came with a verse. This verse really opened my eyes! "Am I now trying to win the approval of me, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10 NIV
After having read that, it really lifted my spirits, knowing that God cares about our struggles in life, to be seen as someone special, to be noticed, praised, appreciated and accepted! It was then, that I realised that, YES, God intends for us to share our gifts with others, but not to win the approval of others, but of God - to lead others to him! Until next time! Yours Truly, Riarna
Hi Everybody :-) Sorry I haven't posted in a while, its been rather busy here!
This week I thought I'd share something different! A few days ago, my Mum and I brought home an extraordinary pet, a 7 week year old Baby girl rabbit, which I'm going to tell you about :-)
As Mum and I walked into the pet shop that day, we had only one thing in mind.. to buy rabbit food for our white rabbit at home (plus we had many other pets!) But as we walked out the door with everything we had, came a sweet bundle of dark brown fur, with cute promising eyes, and un-resistable soft hugs! As we drove home, all these names bombarded my mind, in which to call our new addition to the family! How about Midnight? No..too daunting. Pepper? No, too weird. Morning rise? No, too real. Dawn? Too short! And thats when I had it, Morning Dawn! (Well, thats what I called it anyway, the others each had their own name for it: Clover, Flopsy, Coco, Chocolate!)
Morning Dawn is the B-e-s-t rabbit you could imagine! He has these bright glassy pleading eyes, soft dark brown fur, cute button nose and has the loveliest temperament! Our family spent hours with Morning Dawn, till finally night beckoned us to put our little bundle of fur back in its home. It really is such a baby! It will snuggle in your arms for hours if you let it, so adorable!!
Morning Dawn is so placid and has a lovely temperament. This made me wonder, why?! I guess we can say each individual is different and has different personalities, but I believe sometimes its more than that! When we brought Morning Dawn, we asked why it was so placid and friendly to us. The shop owner explained, that these children looked after not only its physical needs as it was younger, but also played with it each day, hugged it, and nurtured it. This obviously helped developed this baby rabbits temperament and personality!
As I thought about this, one thing came to my mind. If we truly want to become like our Father in Heaven, with a beautiful personality, we must allow God to enter our lives, not just for a little while, but all the time (something I'm sure all of us struggle with, including myself!) to mold and nurture us into something beautiful! Allowing him to remind us each day to read from his character building Bible, passionate prayer (Theres a book called Passionate Prayer by Brenda Welsh, SO powerful!) and connecting with him each day. I know its a struggle, especially for myself, but its a challenge worth undertaking, and the reward is worth waiting for, just like Morning Dawn!
Last night, my cute 7 year old brother, Samuel, came up to me and gave me this hand written note, that he wrote to me. Here's what it said,
"I lov my Big Sistr. My big Sistr is blig and shrong from Sam."
It was just SO cute, and what a cute note he wrote me! It really made me smile! He gave it to me like it was worth gold, and I'm sure it was! He was just so excited and proud of himself! This reminded me of my Relationship with Jesus...
You know, as you would've seen, there are many spelling and grammer errors, aren't there? But did I notice them at first? No, of course not! Why? Because He is my brother, and I knew He loved me and I love him! Although there were many errors on that note, he gave it to me with his best, he tried, and thats all that matters! Its the same with Jesus. When we pray, its like a baby talking to its parents - you can't really understand what they're saying. And yes thats us, yet though we are sinners, God lovingly accepts and hears our jibbish prayers with all these 'spelling errors' and lovingly smiles at them, just like I did, when my little brother gave me his love written note!
God loves to hear from us, he tells us to pray to him without ceasing. Its how we talk to God, the Heavenly Creator of the Universe, of you and I! He accepts our prayers, just as they are, and gives us his 'A+' stamp. He excitedly gives our petitions unto the Father, who hears and answers our Prayers joyfully! God only wants our best, He doesn't require us to be perfect before we come to him, No! God loves it when we come to him, with all our 'spelling errors' in life, and wants us to fully surrender them to him, and he WILL answer them, and fix those errors for us, if we only ask him! So always remember, no matter how many 'spelling errors' there may be in your life, never hesitate to talk to your Heavenly Father, because He he is able to fix them for us. God L-o-v-e-s you with an Ever lasting Love :)
Ellen white says, "Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him." God Loves you,
Riarna :)
I've realised that I haven't posted anything new in quite a while, and just this week, I've been wondering what I could share with you all. After watching this nature video, that I watched this week, it inspired me to post about the Humming Bird, so I hope you enjoy!
Have you ever wondered just how intelligent and precise our Father in Heaven is?
A few days ago, I watched a nature video called "God of Wonders", which showed specific examples, of how wondrous Gods nature really is. One creature in particular really captured my attention, the Humming Bird. As I share with you some of the AMAZING abilities these tiny birds have, I'm sure, just as I have, You will appreciate Gods wisdom, his love and his creation, ever more~
Did you ever pause to think, just how MANY different types of humming birds that exist in this diverse world? Let alone all the other Millions of birds and other creatures! This bird is the T-i-n-n-i-e-s-t bird in the world, yet it has amazing ability like no other bird! Yes, just by one creature, you can see how much God loves to create!
God has given these special birds, a unique ability to fly. Often hovering over sweet flowers, these birds can move mighty F-a-s-t! Darting this way, and that way, God has created the Humming bird with wings like no other. They can fly not only forwards, but backwards, sideways, vertical, upside down and probably, just about any angle! They can even rotate their wings in a full circle, which most other birds can't perform!
Everyone in some point, has had the pleasure of watching the Humming bird fly. They fly F-a-s-t. But how fast? The video showed that they can flap their wings up to 200 times per SECOND - what an amazing bird, but what an AMAZING creator!!
God has also given these birds, the ability to eat nectar from sweet nectar flowers, by hovering in mid air, while feeding, without landing, they can do this A-l-l day, and they spend 90% of their energy through flying, which is why they spend most of their time near flowers, feeding off the nutritious sweet nectar that God has provided.
With the ability of flight, God has enabled these tiny creatures (sometimes as small as a penny!) to remember every flower that they have ever visited to get nector from. They are so smart, that not only can they remember each individual flower, but also can determine when they will next be ready to receive nector from! Very intelligent birds indeed - that only a intelligent God could have created!
You know, with all the amazing abilities these Humming birds have, God has given each type, a different aray of colours, patterns, sizes and types, just as each human being is unique, different and SPECIAL in each amazing way. Just as these Humming birds have special abilities, God has given EVERY person special abilities, whether that be sharing his gospel, singing, playing music, or even as simple as a bright smile - God has not forgotten ANYONE and through his creation, reminds us each day, that he believes that no matter how small you are, like the humming bird, he believes that Everyone is important and special - - - Don't EVER doubt that He loves you!
God is an amazing creator, intelligent, loving and wise, to have created such amazing creatures. I hope today that reflecting on Gods nature, such as the Humming Bird, that we can really appreciate Gods nature and his love, and Passion for his creation, evermore! He Loves you~
